Take Care of Yourself

One of the issues I frequently encounter with people adopting a ketogenic diet is that they don’t like/have time to cook or plan meals for themselves.

I think it’s important for everyone to realize that when you are trying to take care of yourself by changing your diet, part of that change has to include your eating and meal preparation habits as well. Even if you don’t like to cook, you still will need to spend time putting together a meal for yourself, and that action can be a valuable tool for taking control of your health.

To me, cooking is like meditation. Your mind and your hands are occupied with making a meal, so you aren’t worrying about the future, or thinking about you have to do tomorrow. And I think spending a few moments in that worry free zone is a good thing.

It’s also a perfect way to carve out time with your family and friends. Get others involved, and in no time the meal will be ready, and you will have spent some time with the people you love.

Making a meal can be an exercise in learning to value your own wellbeing, and realizing that part of the journey toward better health may include slowing down and taking a moment or twenty to care for yourself through your food and its preparation. You may find you like the way it makes you feel.

Until next time,
