Low Carb Mixed Drinks

These low carb mixed drinks are great when you want a cocktail without the added sugars found in traditional mixed drink recipes.

Get the Basics First

  • Get yourself some low carb sugar free syrup. Monin, DaVinci and Torani all make a plain sweetener.  My personal favorite is the Monin brand, which is a mix of liquid erythritol and some liquid sucralose. Use this mixture for any mixed drink that calls for a sugar syrup.
  • You can also make your own low-carb sugar syrup, but erythritol tends to crystallize again once it is cooled. Check Google for recipes.
  • Pick up some low carb blended drink mixers. Baja Bob's brand or Good Spirits Mixers are made without sugar, and each brands offers several different flavors including pina colada, sour apple, watermelon and cosmopolitan.
  • Create a sweet and sour mix by adding 1/2 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup of lime juice to a low carb sugar free syrup.

Hard Liquors are Mostly Carb Free

Most hard liquors such as vodka, rum, gin and whiskey are distilled and have zero carbs. (The carbs in these low carb mixed drinks come from the fruit juice.) You can enjoy a rum and Coke, or a gin and tonic. Just remember to use diet sodas and tonic waters as mixers, and remember liquor may be carb free, but it's NOT calorie free. An ounce of hard liquor is about 100 calories.
